1. We will now look at special one-dimensional systems that take place ``on the circle.'' Please read the first five sections of Chapter 4. As you will see there are many intriguing applications for flows on a circle.
2. Please do problems 4.1.2, 4.2.1, 4.2.3, 4.3.2, and 4.3.3 of the text.
3. Catastrophe! Please read the section on imperfections and catastrophes in Chapter 3 of the text. Then do problem 3.6.3 of the text
