Math 2000 Assignment 9

Do not wait until the last minute to start the assignment! It’s best to get an early start and work on it in several steps. Do not hesitate to ask for help before the assignment is due! BB’s office hours are on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30-11:30 and 12:45-1:30 in Science 130/132 or by arrangement. Dustin’s office hours are on Mondays and Wednesdays 11:30-1:00 in Science 130/132. • Assignments must be either typed or hand-written neatly; in the latter case, it is safest to work in pencil. You may use a word processor and write equations and calculations by hand.
• Assignments must be on clean sheets of paper (lined paper is often easier), not torn from a notebook.
• Assignments must include all steps that lead to the final answer. Solutions that require discussion must be written in complete sentences with perfect spelling and grammar.

1. Please read Units 7A, 7B, and 7C of the text.

3. Please do the following exercises. This is a minimum recommended dose of exercises. You should work more exercises if you have not mastered the concepts.

Unit 7B: 20, 22, 26, 30, 32.

Unit 7C: 4, 8, 12.

Just for Fun:

A car went up a hill at 10 miles per hour and back down the same hill at 20 miles per hour. What was the average speed of the round trip? (It’s not 15 miles per hour!)
