Math 2000 Assignment 4

Do not wait until the last minute to start the assignment! It’s best to get an early start and work on it in several steps. Do not hesitate to ask for help before the assignment is due! BB’s office hours are on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30-11:30 and 12:45-1:30 in Science 130/132 or by arrangement. Dustin’s office hours are on Mondays and Wednesdays 11:30-1:00 in Science 130/132. • Assignments must be either typed or hand-written neatly; in the latter case, it is safest to work in pencil. You may use a word processor and write equations and calculations by hand.
• Assignments must be on clean sheets of paper (lined paper is often easier), not torn from a notebook.
• Assignments must include all steps that lead to the final answer. Solutions that require discussion must be written in complete sentences with perfect spelling and grammar.

1. Please read the important Unit 3A and Unit 3B.

2. Please do the following exercises. This is a minimum recommended dose of exercises. Don’t hesitate to work more exercises if you have not mastered the concepts.

Unit 3A: 22, 32, 38, 46, 52, 64

Unit 3B: 2d, 4d, 6b .

Just For Fun:

A woman bought a horse for $500 then sold it for $600. She bought it back for $700 then sold it again for $800. How much did she gain or lose on these transactions?
