Math 2000 Assignment 3

Do not wait until the last minute to start the assignment! It’s best to get an early start and work on it in several steps. Do not hesitate to ask for help before the assignment is due! BB’s office hours are on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30-11:30 and 12:45-1:30 in Science 130/132 or by arrangement. Dustin’s office hours are on Mondays and Wednesdays 11:30-1:00 in Science 130/132. 1. We will finish Units 2A and 2B of the book and then move on to Chapter 3. Please read the important Unit 3A.

 

3. Please do the following exercises. You must show the use of units clearly!! This is a minimum recommended dose of exercises. Don’t hesitate to work more exercises if you have not mastered the concepts.

 

Unit 2A: 15d, 26

Unit 2B: 4d, 8b, 49a,b

Unit 3A: 6c, 8, 12

 

4. Extra Credit: Suppose you buy a (British) pint of beer in a pub and pay £1.75 (1.75 British pounds). Two weeks later, you are back in America and buy a 12-ounce glass of beer for $2.50. Which beer was more expensive? (You will need to read Unit 2B carefully).
