Math 2000 - Assignment 9

Do not wait until the last minute to start the assignment! It’s best to get an early start and work on it in several steps. Do not hesitate to ask for help before the assignment is due! A. We will spend the next two weeks on topics related to probability and risk! In the process we will cover most of Chapter 8, so you should read Units 8B, 8c, 8D, and 8E.

 

B. Please do the following problems from the book. Be sure do additional problems if necessary to master an idea. Remember to show your work, state all assumptions, and please write clearly!

 

Unit 8B: 12c, 14a, 16c, 20.

Unit 8C: 2, 8a, 8b, 8c, 10d,

 

C. Don’t forget this one!! You have a choice of playing one of three lotteries.

Which lottery offers the best chance of winning the grand prize? Show your work and explain your answer.
