When will I use math?

When are you ever going to use this stuff anyway? What kind of jobs, other than being a math teacher, require a knowledge of math? Do jobs that use math pay very much? This site lists careers that require a strong math background along with average salaries for those careers. There is a really great article on how to succeed in math too!

Regifting Robin

Have mathematicians invented an algorithm that gives Robin psychic abilities? I am skeptical. But, she does appear to have psychic powers! The first of my students to correctly explain her apparent psychic powers (using math) gets 10 points extra credit. If you are reading this, no students have submitted a correct answer to me yet. So, go for it!

Given a rectangular chocolate bar made up of small squares, how many breaks will it take to completely divide the bar into the small squares? Use this nice Java simulation to find the simple pattern.
