ATTENTION: NEW COURSE SPRING 98
MATH 7924: READINGS ON COMPUTATIONAL MATHEMATICS:
Recent Advances on Finite Element Methods
CU-Denver Building: 641 (small seminar room) Tuesdays 2:30-3:30 PM
Pre-requisites: Numerical Analysis sequence (I and II), an Introduction
to Finite Elements course or equivalent.

We consider recent developments in the finite element method literature.
Discretizations using special functions are considered, in particular,
the so-called: Partition of Unity Method, Meshless Methods,
Residual-free Bubbles, Stabilized Methods, etc.

Students will be responsible for reading a collection of papers
on these methods and making seminar presentations during the
semester about their readings.

IF YOU INTEND TO REGISTER, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, SO THAT I CAN
PLAN A COURSE FOR THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS ATTENDING.
