Class location and time: CU 656 Monday 2:00-3:00
Office hours: CU Bldg 640, Monday 3:00-3:45 Wednesday 2:00-3:45
Prerequisites: Numerical analysis, programming experience in C or Fortran
We
will learn how to use our Beowulf cluster,
the basics of design and implementation of numerical algorigthms in this
environment, and the elements of MPI and PETSC. The class will use
Internet resources. There is no required textbook but the book
"Using MPI" by W. Gropp, E. Lusk, and A. Skjellum is recommended.
The book "How to Build a Beowulf" by T.L. Sterling
et al. may also be of interest.
Each student will complete a computer project.
