Some Sources of W4T Policy Information

These are about policies associated with using the web for teaching (links to resources are in the general listings). I have not found any site that addresses faculty rewards for using the web to teach (or for other scholarly activities). Suggestions are most welcome.

We are interested in knowing about people and institutions that have addressed questions like these:

  1. How can we address the use of the web for the following range of circumstances?
  2. What should be the relationship between distance education and academic credit in a degree program?
  3. Should faculty be rewarded for developing the use of the web in their teaching? If so, how?
  4. Should faculty be penalized for abstaining from the use of the web in their teaching? If so, how?
  5. How can the creative efforts of faculty who use the web for teaching be shared productively? (This is a question of how to coordinate faculty at the same university.)
  6. Should innovations using the web for teaching, particularly those that are published in some archival form, be considered part of a faculty's research/creative activities?

Distance Learning

Distance Education Clearinghouse, University of Wisconsin-Extension
Lots of information, especially to other sources, for keeping current.
Distributed Learning Policies and Procedures, from University of Florida.
This is still a draft.
US Distance Learning Association.
Note the Awards page for ideas about categorizing rewards.
Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education: WICHE
The links into Educational Telecommunications and Policy & Information might suggest where these states, which include Colorado, are heading.
