In the cycle-free case, the class of tolerance graphs conicides with the class of cycle-free interval bigraphs. We show that in general, the class of interval bigraphs contains tolerance graps that are triangle-free (and hence bipartite). By extending this result, we obtain a characterization of triangle-free tolerance graphs. We also give separating examples to show that this containment relationship is proper.
